Trade Deadline 2020 Thanksgiving Edition

NFL. TAKE NOTES.

This is how you maximize on a trade deadline. Yesterday's trade deadline is a day that will be spoken about for the next decade. Once managers found out we can trade future draft picks, it was like a shark smelling blood in the water. Picture a ton of Mako's swarming a helpless child who stubbed their tone in the shallow waters. Dead.

I now know what it feels like to be Adam Schefter. All 3 phones were ringing off the hook, reporting breaking news left and right I actually had to call off work the second half of the day and take some PTO.

In a year where all 10 teams are still in it at the end of week 11, no less! We had first place teams spending high draft capital, we had bottom-of-the-standings teams taking advantage of the onslaught of draft picks being thrown around and capitalized. We can get into who won some of these trades when the season concludes, as well as next years draft and years to come. That's the impact this trade deadline had on Mitch Truby's Homeroom. Keepers will be affected for years to come, next season will certainly be a fun one. Draft night can't come soon enough. Lets take a look at the action.

Since there were so many trades I'm just gonna go in the order they happened.

Trade 1 - 2:24 pm)

Alvin Kamara to Nick's team for a 1st & 3rd round pick in 2021. This started off with a bang! Great return for Flem who has been toying with the idea of calling the season quits an receiving some draft capital next year. I don't think he thought this much value was going to come out of it, but with smart negotiations at the deadline he was able to come away with two top-3 picks.

And on an already stacked team, leading the league this year in first with two weeks left of the season. All Nick's team has to do is win out to secure the regular season champ. Kamara brings immediate blowout matchup threat level to any opponent this team runs into. We could see our first 300 point scorer in the coming weeks folks..

Trade 2 - 2:26 pm)

Chase Claypool and a 2nd round pick in 2021 to Jahnsy Stackhoused in return for Deandre Hopkins to Nick's team. The name says it all, Trade for days went out and got his guy. There's not a player in the NFL he isn't willing to go for, and what better person to complete another blockbuster deal with than his trading buddy Jahns? I've seen these kids hit bombs in softball, now I've seen them make bombs at the deadline. A steep price I would say for Deandre, including Claypool who is on a 10-0 Steelers team right now heading into Turkey Day is not the value I am giving up for Hopkins. But, that's why I suck at trading and couldn't offload CMC or Kittle.

Nick pushed his chips all in this year. No pick until the fourth round in 2021. Dedication to the ship.

Deandre. Kamara. Right off the bat. And....the day took off!

What transpired over the next several hours is something I don't think the common man, like ourselves, will get to experience ever again. The phones started blowing up, Schefty on one line, Rappaport on the other. Matthew Berry's annoying voice calling me asking me what is going on in our league. He said he's never seen a trade deadline like this since Wayne Gretzky was shipped off to L.A.

Guy has a sick stache

Trade 3 - 2:55 pm)

Jahnsy Stackhoused obtains Todd Gurley, Nordo getting Melvin Gordon III and an 8th round pick in 2021. A nice return for Nordo who has got absolutely shit on the last two weeks. Gordon in return does not rule him out of the playoffs, at we have two weeks left and he can be a difference maker. Gurley is a nice get on a Falcons team that simply does not care, so Gurley should just pad the stats rest of year.

Trade 4 - 4:38 pm)

Flem receives Wayne Gallman while Peter receives Juju Smith-Schuster. A simple 1 for 1 from these guys who are 'tired of this guy on my bench who is good, not great type of player'. Our first trade of the day without a future pick involved as well.

Agreed JuJu. SMH

Trade 5 - 4:52 pm)

Flem receives A.J. Brown, David Johnson, and a 5th round pick in 2021. Jahns receives Kenny Golloday, Allen Robinson II, and a 6th round pick in 2021. I really liked this trade, Johnson and Golloday are hurt, but should be back to action at least by fantasy playoffs. A-Rob can be a difference maker, as well as A.J. Brown, who has come on very strong as of late for the high scoring Titans. If Golloday gets healthy, Jahns has added two of the top NFC North wideouts next to Davante Adams and Adam Theilen.

Trade 6 - 5:52 pm)

Kratz receives Ezekiel Elliot trading away Austin Hooper and a 3rd round pick in 2021 to Peter. 2 3rd round picks are gonna be juicy next year. I wonder if we see Pete take Lamar and Mahomes with those 2 picks in the third round? I've seen crazier things happen. Oh ya, him doing it every year. More on that later..

Kratz establishes himself a RB1. Cowboys should make a push to win the NFC East since that division is terrible. The players seem to be rallying around Mike McCarthy and a concussed Andy Dalton.

"Mike McCarthy Smashed Watermelons With Sledgehammer to Fire Up Cowboys"

It's a shame he has to watch Zeke on Turkey Day, since the trade will not process until after the game. It'd be a real shame if Zeke punches 2 in while running for 100 yards.

Trade 7 - 7:08 pm)

Kratz receives Travis Kelce and a 10th round pick in 2021 in exchange  for Eric Ebron (sneaky sleeper rest of season), a 4th round pick in 2021, and a 7th round pick in 2021 to Jahnsy Stackhoused. I would also like to say this trade has nice value for Jahns. He gets a sleeping tight end rest of season, while moving up picks next year.

Zeke. Kelce. Just like that.

Trade 8 - 7:46 pm)

DraftStoshAllen.com has entered the chat. If the GM and Coach of this team could just get on the same page, things maybe could've worked out. Who knows, if Saquon doesn't get hurt this team probably a top four seed. Injuries and poor coaching this season keeps this team outside the hunt. With two games to go they need to win out and have a couple chips fall their way. I know for a fact they will be having some offseason discussions on how to approach next season.

Q receives Aaron Rodgers, Inc receives Tyler Boyd and Brandon Ayuick. Two wideouts who have proven themselves this season and ultimately, can help DraftStoshAllen.com sneak into the playoffs.

"Aaron Rodgers rolls his eyes at the legend of Patrick Mahomes"

Aaron Rodgers a big get for rest of year. Aaron Jones is also on this manager's team. Along with Mcaffrey, who, I thought was going to generate immense trade value. I did attempt to go for Davante Adams, but no bite. I tried to get top draft picks, no bite. Kratz claims he offered me a 3rd round pick. I don't buy it. I was too busy dropping Woj Bombs on everyone, nuke city.

Nick also sent me an offer for a future pick at 10:59 when the trade deadline was at 11. Thanks ya Greek.

Trade 9 - 8:18 pm)

Jahns receives Jimmy Graham and a 15th round pick in 2021 and gives Doza Dallas Goedert, a 11th and 14th round Pick in 2021. I tried to make sense of this trade and I just couldn't. Only logical explanation is Jahns loves the bears, but do the Bears love him? Graham and A-Rob now occupy two spots on Jahns' roster. Will Mitch save the day and this manager's fantasy season?

Trade 10 - 10:23 pm)

Jahns gets his 14th round pick back from Peter, along with Lamar Jackson in exchange for Tom Brady and a 6th round pick in 2021. No more Lamar, no more Mahomes.. What was once the most talked about as the most competitive QB room since Jameis and Taysom Hill. The Jackson-Mahomes combniation chapter has finally come to and end in Pete's book. Good riddance. There is a scenario where Peter plays Nick in week 1 of the playoffs, Nick having drafted Tom Brady would make a revenge tour come full circle having got bounced last year after being #1 the whole year.

Trade 11 - 10:53 pm)

Doza receives Cooper Kupp and a 10th round pick in 2021. Peter receives Marvin Jones Jr. and a 9th round pick in 2021. Doza being a notorious conservative when it comes to trading, was only willing to give up one less round. That's all your gonna squeeze outta this guy, but a good deal nonetheless to move up a round.

Everyone was so hungover from the bloodthirst that transpired yesterday that no more deals successfully took place the morning of the actual deadline. Having to digest it all in, same with having to digest a thanksgiving meal is tough. Some people woke up this morning and asked themselves. "Oh no, what did I do?"
