Congrats to The Flemchise on a great second half of the season and postseason run. We'd all had our bets beginning of the season that Flem would make a run, having secured draft capital to start the year, and even with that draft capital not completely panning out (selecting darren waller with added pick), he still chose wisely on draft night and made a late season trade in acquiring Davante Adams to help secure a championship to his resume, congratulations!
The championship matchup was between two 7-7 regular season teams, first time that has happened in league history. Jahns was defending his title after two respectful postseason wins after securing a championship last season. It's not easy to defend a title, and he made it all the way back to the big game in doing so, Kudos!
Last but not least, congrats to Paul for securing the third place earnings after selling at the deadline. That's what I call a win-win! One thing to note about Paul, he started the Pittsburgh defense when they played the Kansas City Chiefs in his semi-finals matchup and Pittsburgh D got him 0.1 points. I am not joking, go look it up. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Championship Game
Jahnys Stackedhouse 123.1 to The Flemchise 157.55
-Key Performances for Jahnsy Stackedhouse
Amon-Ra St. Brown - 35.5 points - this was a massive start in the flex spot, could have been the major difference maker if Jahns was victorious, nice play.
Patrick Mahomes - 27.05 points - seems like an average score for Mahomes lol.
David Montgomery - 20.3 points - traded for early on in the year, even with an injury, Jahns knew that the bears would suck and they would feed Montgomery late in the season (like they did last year when Montgomery performed for managers in the fantasy playoffs).
Tyreek Hill - 8.2 points - A full 6 points behind is projected total for the week, this one hurts. Feel like if him and Mahomes connected for a long TD this matchup could have been much closer at the end.
Antonio Brown - 4.6 points - AB literally quit on the Bucs, and Jahns. A fantasy first. "Never seen anything like it." - Bruce Arians. With all the question marks this guy has had over the last few years, it seems fitting that a fantasy manager who is willing to gamble on this bozo is dying by the sword also.
Nick Chubb - 5.9 points - I know this is Jahns' favorite guy, I like him as well, but just can't have your RB1 put up a dud in the ship. Nick Chubb? More like Nick Dudd..Gotta think when OBJ saw the writing on the wall for this Browns season maybe this manager should have also and tried to offload him? Baker Mayfield also sucks, I'm convinced Mitch can lead the Browns to a better record.
-Key Performances for The Flemchise
Davante Adams - 29.0 points - This is why you trade for the playmakers at the deadline, solid job by Nordo getting a nice return for his prized possession. Hopefully it will help him jump start his season next year.
Aaron Rodgers - 27.1 points - Also seems like an average game for Rodgers. Here we see the duo of Rodgers and Adams hook up for combined 50+ points, whereas with Jahns's team he need the duo of Mahomes and Hill to hook up for a similar number, which they didn't. Cool to look at that parallel in the championship matchup.
Saints Defense - 25.25. points - Big week for the saints D, having given up only 10 points, 1 Fumble Recovery, 1 Interception, and getting a whopping 7 sacks! In a week where we thought Flem may have started the wrong defense, having both Bears and Titans D on his bench who also had big weeks, it seems as though this manager was playing defense while playing offense if that makes sense. He selected to have a few streaming defenses on his bench to counter his opponent from streaming them, a nice play.
Jonathan Taylor - 20.6 points - a below average week from him, can you believe that? He was projected to get 25 points, just silly what type of floor this guy has for production. More on him later..
Travis Kelce - 12.1 points - A slower week for the beast, but he's one of the main reasons this team got to the championship having a monster week in week 1 of the postseason.
Jaylen Waddle - 6.9 points (nice) - A disappointing score for the rookie who had an outstanding year of production for the Dolphins and fantasy folk. Similarly to Justin Jefferson pick last year in the late rounds, we could see this standout wideout a keeper for years to come?? More on the rookie standouts this year later in blog..
Fantasy MVP's this year - *I am going to include the top 2-3 points wise, as well as my commentary on valued picks and oddities from the league this year. This could be late round flyers, guys you overdrafted for, rookies, etc.
QB
1. Tom Brady - Irwin - 500.2 points (that's an average of 31.3 points/week from just the QB pos.)
2. Josh Allen - Paul - 495.9 points - going to feel weird if he's not on Paul's team next year. It would feel like if Kyler wasn't on Krat'z team. Draftstoshallen.com
3. Justin Herbert - Pete - 487.55 points
-As you all know by now, I drafted Tannehill over Tom Brady. Please never let me live that down.
-Jahns Traded Stafford for a bag of chips
-People forget Nick traded up to draft Dak Prescott QB1 overall at this year's draft.
-Will Joe Burrow finish in the top 3 next year? He finished 5 this year, and only 2 fantasy points behind Mahomes. The kid is out of this world and will only get better with those wideouts.
-Russ Wilson finished as the QB20 on the year, yes he missed 3 games due to injury but you simply cannot draft him in the 6th round and get QB20 production (Nordo).
RB
1. Jonathan Taylor - Flem - 393.8 points (next closest was ~100 points away) - absolutely disgusting that Flem gets to keep him next year in the 5th round, big chance to repeat.
2. Austin Ekeler - Doza - 301.6 points -outstanding pick at the 9th spot.
3. Joe Mixon - Irwin - 286.7 points - outstanding pick in second round, 15th overall. Joe had both the QB1, RB3, & WR5 (Jefferson) this year.. nice little package of picks there bud.
-Pete grabbing Leonard Fournette (ended the year as RB5) in the 9th round turns out to be one of the better draft picks this year. I don't think anyone expected Fournette to have the year that he did, along with Brady (Cough me, Cough).
-Kratz drafting James Conner in the 17th round and him finishing the year as the RB8 has got to feel good.. what won't feel too good is that he can't keep him next year because he dropped him in September for 3 days, boy that stings..
WR
1. Cooper Kupp - Pete - 392.8 points - coming up 1 full point shy from Jonathan Taylor (393.8 points) on the fantasy MVP this year! (screw QB's) You could not have predicted a closer race than Taylor and Kupp having in fantasy this year, it's only fitting that Kupp having one of the greatest fantasy seasons of all time is beat out by 1 point in Taylor. Either way, what a pick in grabbing Kupp who I think Pete may be keeping in round 7 next year... just a hunch.
2. Davante Adams - Nordo/Flem - 314 points - The last four weeks of the season Adams averaged 27.4 points/week, which is an outstanding haul at the trade deadline by Flem, secured his ship. Nordo secures a second round pick, nice trade gentleman.
3. Deebo Samuel - Doza - 309.5 points - Feels like Deebo is the new Tyreek Hill in the NFL? Freaky fast, they get him running end arounds. He should be able to play with Trey Lance sooner rather than later, which I think only helps his cause. Doza will have a fun time deicing on keepers next year, but I can't imagine he passes up on Deebo in the 12-3th round.
4. Ja'Marr Chase - Doza - 309.4 points - losing to his teammate on Doza's team by .1 points comes the rookie in Chase. A great year from the rookie wideouts, which we have seen these last few years in the NFL. As mentioned, Doza is going to have a tough time deciding who to keep next year... Deebo? Henry? Chase?
-Justin Jefferson finished as the wideout 5 this year, congrats to Joe on getting his new puppy who coincidently he also named Jefferson, heard the pup's a keeper.
-Mike Williams finished as the WR13. Feels like he's a guy I never want to draft because he either gets 20 points per matchup, or 3 points. Keenan Allen had another great year and Herbert will look to expand with these two next year.
-Will Hunter Renfrow get some respect on his name next year? Some players he finished ahead of this year (I understand some injuries): CeeDee Lamb, Amari Cooper, Thielen, Tee Higgins, Marquise Brown, Terry Mclaurin, AJ Green, Deandre Hopkins, Tyler Lockett, Brandon Cooks, DJ Brown. That is a big list, and these are the types of guys who can help win you leagues.
-Jaylen Waddle was sneaky my favorite pick at the beginning of the year. He was in every mock I did, and he was on the board during my next pick. Flem scooped him up and I screamed, if any of you can recall, which based on the state we were in that night I wouldn't put it past you if you don't.
-Wideouts who are good but I just can't pick them: Brandon Cooks, Bucs wideouts, Michael Pittman.
TE
1. Mark Andrews - Q - 263.4 points - this one is my baby, my prized possession. Andrews continues to gold mildly unnoticed and is just a target share monster who produces. Once he starts getting in the endzone a tad more he will get drafted ahead of Kelce, until then, I think he's my keeper. My RB strategy this year didn't workout (Roughly 4 Rb's in the top 25), so I may force myself to keep Andrews next year to change the makeup of my team a bit.
2. Travis Kelce - Flem - 231.8 points - Dropped to the 17th overall pick, we normally don't see the TE1's of the world drop that far. I can remember Richard or Irwin going high on him and/or gronk in year's past. Let's see how high he goes next year.. My money is on someone who is keeping a late round RB/WR will draft Kelce with an earlier pick next year.
3. George Kittle - Pete - 177.7 points - big drop off in points from the first two on the list, but no real surprise having Kittle round out the top 3. Kittle's another guy who scrares me a bit, he can drop 30 points one game, then the next the 49ers run the ball 35 times and Kittle blocks the entire game.
4. Dalton Schultz - Nordo - 167.3 points - Huhhhhh? Another Waiver wire add by nordo who turned out to be a top ten performer... Damn, if only his drafting skills were anywhere close to his waiver wire adds.
5. Kyle Pitts - Doza - 157.8 points - I think this is where everyone expected this guy to land, he was super hyped coming into the draft this year and finished at a respectable 5 spot. He was taken in our draft only 5 picks after Mark Andrews, which makes me happy the dropoff was that close. I expect him to be a star in this league, I'm just not sure where the Falcons are going with Matty Ice and company.
-Darren Waller was a bust as mentioned
-Gronk certainly outplayed what everyone thought he was going to do this year except Nick.
-Zach Ertz had a midseason trade to the Cardinals which helped him become fantasy relevant again. Feel like he needs to have a big playoffs for the Cardinals to have a chance at a super bowl run.
-Dawson Knox, really cool name, but can you count on him to win you a playoff matchup?
-Hunter Henry, really cool name, and yes you can count on him to win you a playoff matchup.
-Noah Fant? More like Noah Cant. Another draft pick by Nordo, anyone could have guessed that.
DEF
1. Bills - Pete - 243.65 points - Bills Mafia, and that cold weather = disaster for opponents
2. Patriots - Nordo - 243.45 points - Just missed the number 1 spot by half a point, equivalent to a sack I'd say. This division is tough and these two powerhouse defenses are going nowhere. If you traded and got an extra pick in the 12-13th next year im fully going in on a top 3 defense and not have to worry about streaming week to week.
3. Cowboys - Doza - 240.7 ponts - Whereas the first two defenses on this list gave up less points, more sacks etc, the Cowboys had a high point total thanks to the amount of interceptions they generated this year. Expect them to come down next year.
-Variance on defensive points has a decent downtick after these 3, and then it just gets to who can stream the best defenses of the week, which is always fun to see (Flem's championship D streams and Paul's semifinal defensive stream).
-Speaking of Paul playing the Steelers Defense against the Chiefs in the playoffs, people forget Nick drafted Steelers as his keeper in the 6th round this year. Just an all around forgetful year, as the Steelers finished the year as the defense 20.
K
1. Nick Folk - Pete - 156 points - don't think anyone saw another New England kicker finishing the year at number 1... what year is it??
2. Justin Tucker - Inclan - 152 points - I want you all to close your eyes, picture yourselves in Kratzmeyer's apartment on draft night. It's 106 degrees and the A/C doesn't work. The windows won't open. You've got a lukewarm beer in your hand in a small keg cup, Nordo is sweating. Everyone is painfully having a great time and remembering what it's like to live in the winter. This heat's not so bad is it? No it is, but we've got a team to assemble, gotta focus. You've compiled what you think is a solid first half of your draft, got the Rb's you wanted, a few wideouts, maybe a nice tight end, and then you snag that midround QB you had circled. And then, all of a sudden, you look up and Paul is walking up to the draft board during his 13th round pick with a big ole smile on his face... and we know it's coming, "Justin Tucker".
It's with these two words, you know the draft's almost over. Only 4 more rounds. You glance at your team, knowing you can wait another few rounds for a kicker and/or defense. You try to find the next Justin Jefferson, Kyler Murray, or Deebo Samuel. You look back up, Jahns is in the corner on the phone with his brother talking about Corsi, which he doesn't know is a hockey statistic, but it sounds like it belongs in football so he asks him if "there are any late round corsi flyers". His brother is half asleep, "it's 1 am, take Cole Beasley" he says. We're only onto round 14, he hangs up the phone. Jahns is enraged. There's 3 rounds to go, shots are flowing, Reis just started cooking dinner, it's 1:30 am, people are dropping like flies. Nordo's Mcd's shift starts in 2 hours, he's got to get home, Kratz is vomiting in the sink and has a 7 am tee time in a Western suburb, Scalcs has vaped himself into a third bag of chips, Stosh's eyes are in the back of his head, Vinny is doing push ups, Nick is shaking his head at his team, Fleim is smiling at his. Doza is staring at Derick Henry on his draft board knowing there's nothing else in this life that matters than his health, a foreshadowing, perhaps? Q is trying to communicate with Irwin on the zoom call, but even Joe knows it's too little too late to be coherent in this room of mayhem. Meanwhile Paul sits in the corner with a smirk on his face, knowing that he started this last leg of the draft with those two simple words, "Justin Tucker".
3. Matt Gay - Kratz - 149 points - possibly one of Krat'z keepers next year lmao?

Ands that does it folks, real fun year this year. Hope you all enjoy the offseason and get to those mock drafts early and often. One thing to keep in mind is you get two keepers next year with one having a two round penalty if you can recall. Last but not least.. be sure to bring the Arm Chair Championship Trophy to the draft next year Jahns so we can pass the torch onto The Flemchise
