NHL Fantasy Hockey First Half Round-Up & Power Rankings

Hope everyone is enjoying the hockey season thus far, it has been quite the script not many could predict. We've had offseason trades, beloved head coaches fired, Hawks at the bottom of the league, but great fantasy hockey that we can truly lean on as the dismal month of sports comes to a halt where not much is happening until March Madness. 

Let's take a look at who made the all star team and which managers possess some of these players. We'll also take a look at power rankings and see how teams are doing around the league. Playoffs are only a couple weeks away and the time has come to solidify the makeup of your team and if you have what it takes to hoist the cup!

Sprinkle in a few shorties and you have the makings of a championship team right here. 3 all stars, could easily have 10, but there's only 1 center position on the ice. 

Also won Goalie Wins at the all-star break of a payout of $50. This team also tied with short handed goals and is splitting the money with 2 other teams that tied for 17 short handed points. Kinda crazy to think three people had that many shorty points.

The make-up of this team will often surprise you, because players on this organization do not have a long shelf life and can be equated to working a job that has a high turnover rate. In seriousness, this manager recognizes hockey and winners on the ice.

Probably the most well-rounded defensive team including defensemen and goalies. This team leads at the break in blocks with a whopping 805 to go along with 50 goalie Wins. The only thing the offensive opponent sees when going up against this squad is their impending doom, as they know their shot will either be blocked or saved against this dynamic defensive front. You'll notice this team also has some highly skilled threats on the wing in both Aho and Skinner, that went a little under-the-radar in this year's draft and are clearly proving dividends for the prophets loaded wingers roster.

Is in 2nd with 675 points look for this team to make some noise come playoff time.. I suspect a late round run as this team dominates in several categories including blocks. You like to see a team with the make-up like this that goes out and gets points and plays defensively in their end.

This team has an excellent +/-. I am not sure if you can attribute that to this team or the manager forgetting to set his lineup. Alas, currently in the 7 spot and looking for a playoff push. Look for this team to make an early round upset led by strong goaltending play followed with Goals and hits, both of which this team is ranked towards the top in. Grit is definitely the theme of this team with the likes of Tom Wilson, Brent Seabrook, & Jake Muzzin manning the peasant forwards in the NHL.

This team is absolutely stacked, but is still out of a playoff spot. Just look at the all stars on this team. I expect a high octane battle for the last playoffs spot down the stretch. This team is mirroring Downstairs Laird -54, with a +54 of their own. 17 short handed points is what is keeping this team afloat, along with the most assists in the league. Some pretty passers can make the stretch pass as well as sauce it over your stick and make you look silly. BMP has probably the best DUO stack in the game with Stamkos & Kucherov.

This is a team I am pulling for, missing both live drafts the past two years due to conflict this manager has had to draft from behind the bar. While some luck has paved the way to moderate success the business decisions in season are what keeps this team afloat. Leading the way with 1001 hits and an outstanding save % of .9193, this team also has success in scoring goals. Not out of the question to make a playoff spot, possible side bet action during matchups will be the only winnings this manager can garner come playoff time. This team is scary with players who can body you up and score at the same time in Tkachuk, Ovi, Domi and Simmonds.

Mr Auto-Draft himself has put together a nice string of matchups as of late. Fueled by assists with 412 and 613 points, this team can certainly compete. Mr Post Office has been a formidable foe both on the ice and at your doorstep. (For the life of me I can't stop getting junk mail). 12 shorthand points is a stat I would like to point out that surely can win this manager an extra category in a given week. This team probably has the future Vezna Winner in Vasilesky. Will be another long offseason for USPS again, time to dust off the golf clubs.

Better luck next year. Hopefully this manager can learn what the waiver wire is. Plagued by IR and not utilizing the IR slot or making any moves really dug this team a whole it could not get out of.
